EPA WaterSense

WaterSense is a program that was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It focuses on promoting water efficiency and conservation across a wide range of products, services, and practices. WaterSense-labeled products and services are certified to use at least 20 percent less water, save energy, and perform as well or better than regular models. WaterSense strives for all Americans to understand the importance of water efficiency and take positive actions to reduce their water use.

WaterSense certification is included in all Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) certifications. It can also be obtained individually.

Our Process

Our team of certified experts diligently follows the WaterSense Labeled New Home Inspection Checklist to certify a home as WaterSense compliant.

WaterSense Labeled New Home Inspection Checklist Overview

Indoor Water Efficiency Criteria: Includes leaks, service pressure, hot water delivery, toilets, flushing urinals, bathroom sink faucets, kitchen sink faucets, showerheads, dishwashers, clothes washers, evaporative cooling system, water softeners, and drinking water treatment systems.
Outdoor Water Efficiency Criteria: Includes landscape design, slopes, mulching, pools/spas, ornamental water feature, and irrigation system.
Homeowner or Resident and Building Management Education Criteria: Includes single-family occupant operating manual, building operating manual, irrigation system, and pools/spas.
