Alyssa Jenkins is the IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist at Clean Efficient Energy Company (CEEC), where she collaborates with builders on new construction homes to ensure they meet energy code standards and prioritize comfort and efficiency.
In her multifaceted role, Alyssa begins each day with pre-drywall energy inspections to identify energy-related issues. She conducts duct leakage and air tightness tests, ensuring homes are well-sealed and efficiently conditioned. Using energy modeling tools, she provides HERS projections, offering insights into homes' expected energy performance. Lastly, she assigns HERS ratings, certifying the energy efficiency of new homes.
Alyssa’s journey in energy efficiency began at the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a Minor in Business. Her passion for energy efficiency and problem-solving was ignited during her senior capstone project, helping a small school in Lawrence become more energy-efficient.
Following graduation, Alyssa gained experience in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) work with the City of Shawnee, contributing to project planning for more comfortable living environments.
Joining CEEC in 2021, Alyssa found a company that shares her passion for improving home construction. As a HERS Rater and IECC/HERS Compliance Specialist, she plays a vital role in guiding builders toward high-quality, energy-efficient homes, utilizing her problem-solving skills to address energy efficiency challenges.
Driven by her values, Alyssa finds fulfillment in helping others and making a positive impact. Her most noteworthy professional accomplishment lies in creating safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient homes for homeowners in her community.
Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys cooking, reading, and caring for her plants. Her active lifestyle includes gym visits and outdoor activities with her fiance and their dog. Embracing new experiences, they love trying new restaurants, watching movies, and planning future travels.
Looking ahead, Alyssa sees a promising future for residential energy, expecting rapid progress toward sustainability. Builders increasingly recognize the importance of environmentally friendly homes, with Alyssa playing a crucial role in guiding them toward this goal.
